Florida Teens Launch Charity App That Helps Locals Deliver Pizza for a Purpose

A pair of South Florida teens turned volunteer work into a pizza donation app, and it has already helped deliver 25,000 slices to food insecure families.

Aashrita Kaza and her brother Anish designed Pizza for a Purpose two years ago. Aashrita was in eighth grade at the time.

The app streamlines pizza donations by letting anyone send fresh pizzas from any nearby restaurant to any nearby charity of their choice. It has led to donations in places like Broward County.

The idea came to the siblings while volunteering at local charities. They said they already had some understanding that adults can’t always afford fresh pizza, but seeing food insecure children also affected them.

They said they did not know that kind of need existed in 21st century America.

“The reaction really warms our hearts, their faces just light up the second they get the pizza,” Aashrita told CBS News for the “Miami Proud” segment. “It’s very rewarding because it makes everything we do worth it.”
