What started as a routine sales call in Keller, Texas, turned into a deeply personal moment for a home improvement specialist and a homeowner dealing with serious health issues.
When Caleb Killough knocked on Melinda Potosky’s door, he said he expected a normal work appointment. Instead, he said there was something about Potosky that immediately reminded him of his late grandmother.
“There was something in her eyes,” he said. “She reminded me of my Gammy. She’s no longer with us.”
As they spoke, Potosky told him about her health struggles. She said doctors are closely monitoring her condition and that a transplant could eventually become necessary.
Killough said that hit close to home because his father underwent a double lung transplant six years ago.
“I thought I was going to lose my father, so it was very emotional,” he said.
Killough then asked Potosky if he could pray with her in her home.
For Potosky, the meeting came at the right time.
“He was the most delightful young man I’ve ever encountered, and we have just seemed to click,” she said.
The following Monday, Killough returned with a surprise. Texas Home Improvement, the company he works for, offered to complete needed repairs on her home free of charge.
“I think I’m going to have to invite him to be my grandson,” Potosky said.
