Big school milestones can come with extra costs, and one Avondale teacher decided her students should not miss out because of that.
Four years ago, Littleton STEM Academy teacher Arizona Nguyen noticed some students could not afford hair, nails and other extras often tied to promotion celebrations. She responded by creating the school’s “8th Grade Promotion Pamper Party.”
Now in its fourth year, the event brings local stylists, makeup artists and volunteers to campus for a full-service celebration ahead of eighth-grade promotion.
They provide free hair styling, makeup, nail services and breakfast for graduating students and their families.
The pamper party is aimed at making sure every student feels special before one of middle school’s biggest milestones, as they prepare for high school.
