Man Finds Lottery Ticket in Dumpster — Wins $100,000

An Ohio man came close to throwing away a $100,000 lottery win, then climbed into a dumpster to get it back.

In a news release, the Ohio Lottery said a man from Willard accidentally tossed out his Bingo 25 Times 25 Scratch-Off ticket before realizing it was a winner.

“A Willard man accidentally threw away his Bingo 25 Times 25 Scratch-Off ticket. Thankfully, he realized it but not before the trash was taken out. He ended up having to dumpster dive to retrieve it. It was definitely worth it because it was a $100,000 winner!” the Ohio Lottery said.

The man paid the required 26.75 percent tax and took home $73,250, according to the release.

The Ohio Lottery also posted about the win on Instagram. One commenter asked: “What made them throw the ticket away? What made them go to retrieve it?”
