Fort Lauderdale Firefighters Rescue Kitten From Manhole After Uber Driver Hears Cries

UPDATE: An update for everyone keeping up with this story. The crew of Firehouse 8 named the little guy “Gutter.” He has been adopted by one of the firefighters (no, not one of the three in this video.)

A tiny kitten was fished out of a manhole by firefighters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after a passing Uber driver reported the cat’s cries.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue released footage of the 40-minute rescue, which shows a firefighter lowering himself into the manhole and bringing the cat above ground.

“Capt Duty, Driver-Engineer Bayne, and Firefighter Loleski hit the street on busy Andrews Ave, working from a manhole and multiple storm drains, using water from the engine and a hydrant to guide this little fighter to safety,” Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue wrote on Facebook.
