A real estate agent in Alaska thought she was looking at a small animal in the road. Then she realised it was a moose calf, with its mother standing nearby.
Bethany Mitchell, who has lived in Alaska for more than four decades, said the moment happened during a recent trip. According to the World Population Review, Alaska has about 175,000 moose.
She said she hesitated when she saw the calf and the mama moose close by.
“For a second, I debated stopping and moving him myself, but I had no clue how much that little guy weighed, and if you’ve spent any time around moose, you know Mama Moose doesn’t exactly appreciate unsolicited childcare. Thankfully, a man in a truck stopped, picked up the calf, and carried him safely across to his mom while traffic patiently waited,” she wrote on Instagram.
Mitchell said seeing a mama moose and her baby is one of the things she loves most about living in Alaska.
“That’s one of the things I love most about living here. No matter how long you’ve called Alaska home, there’s always something new to see, a story you’ve never heard, or a moment that reminds you this place still plays by its own rules,” she added.
People responding to the video praised the man who helped reunite the calf with its mother.
“I AM AMAZED that that man carried a whole baby moose under one arm and climbed over the guard rail like wut,” one person wrote.
“Aww! Oh my goodness! I’m glad that sweet man stepped in!” another person added.
