A prom night at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon is getting attention online after the school posted videos of students dancing and smiling at its annual event.
The videos, shared on social media, show students enjoying prom, a rite of passage familiar to high schoolers everywhere.
It is no surprise the clips struck a chord. Commenters responded warmly as the videos spread online.
“I say without sarcasm, bless their hearts. As much as it brings a tear to my eye, this is more of the content I want from this page,” one person commented.
“I have a friend who passed recently, he was a teacher for the school for the blind in NC. Even after he retired, he still showed up for them. But one thing that stuck out to me is that he said there are levels of blindness and not everyone who’s blind is completely lights out,” another comment said.
“Congrats to all these amazing students! They will remember this day! The smiles on their faces bring joy to me!” a follower wrote.
“Bless. I do a lot of work with the Atlanta School for the Deaf. This is just as wholesome,” another person added.
The post centred on students at the Georgia Academy for the Blind having fun at prom, with viewers saying the videos brought them smiles and tears.
