Most sisters share stories, milestones and family memories.
Two Arizona sisters ended up sharing a birthday delivery room story.
Kayla and Kelsey Strickland were already surprised when they discovered they were both pregnant around the same time. What started as a secret quickly turned into a shared experience, with the sisters comparing notes on everything from symptoms to late-night worries.
“At 4 a.m. I need someone to call, text her, take a picture and ask, ‘Does this look normal?’” Kayla recalled.
As their pregnancies progressed, another coincidence emerged. Their due dates landed on the same day.
Even then, neither sister expected what would happen next.
Kayla joked about who would give birth first, but delivery day arrived with a twist. One sister went into labor, and the other was not far behind.
Their mother suddenly found herself racing between hospitals in Gilbert, Arizona.
“A lot of praying and back and forth, back and forth,” she said.
The timing worked out almost perfectly.
Both sisters gave birth on the same day.
Both welcomed baby boys.
And both babies weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces.
The remarkable string of coincidences quickly caught attention, turning the newborn cousins into local celebrities.
The odds may be hard to calculate, but for the Strickland family, the result is simple.
