One Illinois high school’s graduating class had an unusual feature, five sets of twins among 72 seniors.

Cumberland High School’s class graduated on May 17, according to WCIA. The school is just northwest of Greenup, a village of roughly 1,300 people. That meant about 14 percent of the graduating class was made up of twins.

“We don’t really think about it, but to have five sets of us in this small of a town is actually kind of impressive,” graduate Trey Lewis told WCIA.

Principal Daniel Huffman joked about what that meant for graduation day attendance.

“When we were thinking about graduation, what kind of crowd we were gonna have, well … 10 of them share families! So it balanced out with the big numbers,” he said.

Several of the twins shared memories of growing up together at school.

Identical twins Rylan and Camden James said they once pranked their kindergarten teacher, who used their shoes to tell them apart.

“We switched shoes because that was how our teacher told us apart was by the shoes,” they told WCIA. “So we switched them, and she got really confused.”

Identical twins Gaven and Trey Lewis joked about life with a sibling who looks exactly like you.

“You have a best buddy, you also have a punching bag once in a while. Okay, don’t say that part,” they said jokingly. “If you have to learn to share. If you do not, you’re going to have blood baths!”

Fraternal twins Jade and Ava Carr said some people at school did not even realise they were sisters.

“Half the people don’t even know we’re twins. One of our teachers thought we were cousins,” they said.

Gabriella and Gibson Hutton said being separated when they first started school was hard.

“We both cried, and our teachers had to be like, ‘No, it’s okay! You’ll see each other in 10 minutes, it’ll be fine,’ ” Gabriella recalled.

Now the group is preparing to split up for the first time. Several of the twins plan to attend nearby Lake Land College, while others are heading to universities in other parts of Illinois.

Dominik and Maximus Strader are taking a different path and joining the military, following their father.

“I wanted to travel the world. I wanted to see, experience, and meet so many new people,” Dominik told WCIA.

WCIA also reported that Dominik and Maximus Strader, along with Gaven and Trey Lewis, were born just six hours apart on Nov. 22.
