Two pet goats helped rescuers locate a family after a tornado struck Enid, Oklahoma, on April 23, demolishing the family’s home and leaving them trapped underground in their shelter.
The Sloat family told the New York Post that their pet goats, Percy and Penny, survived the storm aboveground and then stood directly atop the shelter, which was buried under rubble. The loyal animals stayed put and bleated until emergency crews were able to pinpoint the family’s location and pull them and two neighbors to safety.

Adam Sloat, 53, said rescuers were unable to determine where the family was trapped until they spotted the goats.

The National Weather Service said its survey found “several points of EF-4 damage southeast and southwest of Enid” following the tornado.
The Sloat family shared with Storyful photos showing the damage to their home, along with several archive photos and a video of the trusty goats.
