When a mother started screaming at a lake in Arkansas, two teenagers stepped in and saved her 3-year-old daughter.

Jackson Leonard, 17, and Isaac Hassell, 15, were with friends at Lake Bailey at Ohana Celebration Park in Vilonia during Memorial Day weekend in 2026 when they heard the woman yelling, according to KARK.

The girl was pulled from the lake face down.

“Then I see her come out, and she’s blue, and she’s limp,” Isaac told KARK. “I started compressions, and then Jackson came over and had a breath mask.”

Isaac had learned CPR the week before, and he used that training on the toddler.

“She was turning, like, pink and white and everything. And then her eyes started opening. I was like, we’re almost there. Like, we’re going to get her back up,” Jackson told KARK.

In a separate interview, Isaac said he was afraid at first.

“I was scared. I was like nervous. I was like, God, just please take this girl and help her get back up, because I’m not letting a three-year-old child go out, especially when I’m here, and I know what I can do to help save her. It was just something that was really warm and warming to my heart, knowing that someone was able to live to see another day, because we, we did what was what it took to make sure she did,” he told KATV.

The girl recovered and celebrated her fourth birthday the following week.

The American Heart Association later gave Jackson and Isaac Heartsaver Hero Awards for their actions.
