It took a community push, but a missing cane with deep personal meaning is back where it belongs.
Jim Pryce, a 90-year-old Fresno veteran and retired Fresno Police lieutenant, accidentally left his handmade wooden cane behind while shopping at Costco in Clovis, according to FOX26.
After multiple trips back to the store, the cane was never turned in. Pryce’s daughter then posted a plea on social media.
The cane was handcrafted by a fellow retired officer and features Pryce’s Fresno Police badge, motor officer pin and Honor Flight pin. The family described it as priceless.
After FOX26 shared the story, an employee at Gibson Farm Market found the cane by a corn bin, recognized it and contacted the Clovis Police Department.
The cane has now been returned to Pryce, who continues to serve the community as a docent at the Veterans Memorial Museum in downtown Fresno.
