A trip to a wrestling show set Tristan Angels on a very different path from the sheep farm where he grew up.

The 23-year-old, from Kimmeridge, said a visit to Bournemouth Pavilion when he was 18 changed his future. Inspired by the show, he looked for a wrestling school and started training.

He now performs weekly with WWE on its developmental show NXT on Netflix, and is based in Florida.

Tristan said taking part in the Mister England beauty pageant, and then representing England at Mister International, helped jump start his wrestling career.

He comes from a long line of sheep farmers and said farm life shaped his early years.

“As a kid, you start opening gates, feeding lambs at lambing time and you get a bit more involved until eventually you’re driving tractors, shearing sheep and all the rest of it,” he said.

Tristan said farming was more like a lifestyle than a job.

For now, he said he is living his best life in the ring with WWE.

“I look like I am from a fairy tale, I am the most handsome man in England,” he said.

“I’m from humble origins on a sheep farm, I am Prince Charming from Shrek just come to life.

“I just win, whether it’s a beauty pageant, in the ring or on the farm.”
