Couple Celebrates Wedding Day by Running a Half-Marathon Together

Most wedding days start with a checklist. Kasie Joyner and Matt Sopha started theirs with 21.1 kilometres.

The Gilbert couple ran the GOVX San Diego Half Marathon together just hours before their wedding this spring, then went on to say “I do.”

Running has long been part of their relationship. Joyner and Sopha have now completed the San Diego half-marathon nine times.

After last year’s race, they decided to plan their wedding around the event itself.

This year, they wore matching “bride” and “groom” race shirts and crossed the finish line side by side.

They then celebrated with friends, family and members of their wedding party who joined them on the course.
