UK Deer Rescue Crew Frees Trapped Deer From Fence in Viral One-Minute Rescue

It takes less than a minute to see the danger, and the relief.

Essex Deer Entanglement Rescue, @essex.deer.entang, shared video of a responder freeing a deer trapped between metal fence bars. The caption said: “Another day another deer rescued,”

The video shows the deer in distress as the worker uses a tool to widen the gap between the bars. As space opens up, the deer pulls its ears back through the fence, frees itself and runs back into the trees.

The clip has drawn attention because it shows how everyday materials such as fencing, mesh and garden netting can become hazards for wildlife. For animals such as deer, getting caught can lead to panic, injury and exhaustion if help does not arrive in time.

The rescue also highlights the overlap between human spaces and wild habitats in suburban and rural areas, where animals move through yards, fields and roadsides. Materials used to mark property lines or protect gardens can create dangers for wildlife, pets and children if they are loose, damaged, poorly placed or the same colour as the surrounding area.

Wildlife experts often recommend avoiding unnecessary loose netting, checking fences regularly for gaps or snags and choosing safer designs when possible.

The source text says the safest response for most people is not to rush in to help a trapped wild animal without assistance. Frightened animals can injure themselves or the people trying to free them.

That risk is visible in the video when the deer makes a sudden movement after being released. The source text says people should contact a local wildlife rescue, animal control teams or other trained responders equipped to handle the situation.

One commenter wrote, “That deer is absolutely terrified thank you for helping it.” Another said, “Not all heroes wear capes, well done mate.”
