A baby gorilla enjoyed being hosed down at Texas’s Fort Worth Zoo as temperatures soared above 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius) on July 20.
Footage captured by a Fort Worth zookeeper shows three-year-old western lowland gorilla Bruno playing with the hose stream to cool down.
“Not only is the water hose a great way to cool off, but it was an enriching experience for our little gorilla,” the zoo said via email.
Fort Worth Zoo also noted that to help their animals stay cool during high temperatures they provide them with ample shade and water features in their habitats, and give them ice treats. Some also have access to indoor spaces.
Abnormally high temperatures are expected to continue across the Fort Worth region in the coming weeks.
