A snow plow driver came to the rescue of two dogs that were trotting down a highway in Lindenhurst, New York, during the blizzard on February 23.

Footage shared by the Town of Babylon government shows the view from Kenny McGowan’s truck as he drove behind the dogs on the snow-covered Sunrise Highway.

McGowan said he followed the dogs for about a mile before positioning his truck to block traffic so he could safely get to the animals.

With the help of passersby and a fellow Department of Public Works employee, McGowan took the dogs out of harm’s way, and brought them to Babylon Animal Shelter.

Staff at the shelter found that the dogs were sisters, according to CBS News, and they were soon reunited with their owners.
