A dog on a leash in the middle of the road led a Kansas police officer straight to its owner, who had been stuck on the floor for more than three hours.
The Leawood Police Department released bodycam footage showing an officer spotting the dog while patrolling a residential neighbourhood.
“The officer noticed the dog was on a leash, but there was no owner in sight,” police said.
Video showed the dog barking at the officer. The officer replied, “Hi, why don’t you go on back home?”
Police said the officer then “followed the dog about half a block to its home, where he found the garage door open and the homeowner on the floor, unable to get up.”
Bodycam footage showed the officer following the dog up a driveway, where another dog had emerged.
“Is this where you live?” the officer asked the dogs.
After spotting the resident, the officer said, “Hi, are you OK?”
“The resident had been there for more than three hours,” according to police.
“Thanks to the resident’s loyal companion, our officer was able to find them and get them the help they needed,” police said.
“The resident was treated by medical personnel and is now recovering safely at home.”
