The Dallas Zoo on Thursday, April 9, announced the recent birth of two Sumatran tiger cubs, and invited the public to vote for one of their new names.
According to the zoo, 12-year-old mom Sukacita (“Suki”) gave birth to two cubs, a male and a female, in “the early morning hours” of February 22.
Each cub weighed approximately 2.5 pounds at birth, and they were “thriving under Suki’s attentive care” as of April 9, according to a press release.
The Dallas Zoo asked the public to vote for “the perfect name” for the female cub, and said it was planning to announce the winner on April 20.
Footage shows the cubs playing and snuggling behind the scenes.
According to the zoo, Sumatran tigers are the smallest tiger subspecies and are listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), with fewer than 600 individuals remaining in the wild.
