Colorado Fire Rescue Saves Kitten Trapped in Well and Gives Her a New Home

A kitten stuck in a well in Colorado got out safely, and then straight into a new home.

KDVR reported that Adams County Fire Rescue responded shortly before 10 a.m. to a citizen assist call involving a kitten trapped in a well. The agency shared the rescue and footage of it on Facebook.

In the video, a firefighter calls down to the five-week-old kitten before being lowered on a tripod for the rescue. At the same time, the firefighter checked that the surrounding air was safe.

Once lowered into the well, the firefighter carefully handled the kitten and tried to comfort it. The rescue went smoothly.

The kitten was then handed to a caretaker and taken to a nearby animal shelter.

Adams County Fire Rescue said the story quickly took another turn.

“If you were thinking about adopting her, we appreciate that, but one of our burly firefighters has already claimed her,” the agency wrote in its Facebook post.
