A house fire in Centennial sent Deputy Ligon sprinting into action, and his body camera caught the moment he found a frightened dog hiding in the backyard.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Ligon, a school resource officer in Colorado, responded to a fire in the 19700 block of East Radcliff Place in Centennial.

Body camera footage showed Deputy Ligon kick in a door and run through the home searching for anyone who needed rescue. No one was inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

In the backyard, he found a dog trembling beneath a trampoline as the fire spread. Deputy Ligon removed the dog safely.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said no one was hurt.

The rescue drew praise online.

“That poor puppy was terrified but those bystanders were so gentle with him. He deserves all the cuddles. Thought and prayers to both humans and puppy,” one person wrote.

Another said, “I need Deputy Ligon to teach some exercises classes cause that door kick was bada**! I feel like Miss Shlowski from Kindergarten Cop watching that.”

Another person wrote: “That officer took the door out like it was made our of Legos! Also only one who had common sense to just pick uo the trampoline. Bro was literally just staring at the dog under the trampoline,”

A further comment said: “I can already here the officers thought ‘is this person serious?!’ *while lifting trampoline with his pinky.’”

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, no one was hurt.
